Teacup Story – Music and Wine

Music and Wine – Nelly sat on the sofa and drank her wine in peace and quiet. It was the perfect end to an evening. (Genre – General, Rating – PG)

Nelly sipped on her wine, curled upon the sofa as her speakers gently played out tunes across the room.

It was quiet, and it was perfect. It was just how she liked to spend an evening after dinner, just experiencing the flow of time over her mind as thoughts came and went. The scented candle flickered in the corner of the room, the only light in her eyesight. Helen’s computer was still bright and blazing in the next room, she preferred to kill zombies as her way to relax.

Each to their own, Nelly thought, uncurling on the sofa like a plant flowering. Helen and her worked because they were so different, and yet similar. They might like totally different things, they might have totally different opinions, but at their core they were united in love and values.

Nelly poured some more of the wine into her glass. It was a Rioja, the only wine she would drink and the only wine Helen tolerated. That was another of their differences, Nelly was a wine girl and Helen was a spirits and cocktails girl right to her core.

“You alirght in there?” Helen shouted over the sounds of zombies dying.

Nelly smiled. It was totally Helen to constantly ask how she was, it was Helen’s way of saying “I love you” without uttering those words.

“Yes, thank you dear,” Nelly replied, taking another sip of her wine and snuggling down into the sofa. Their house might be new, there might be boxes around the hallway and upstairs, but it was home.

All because Nelly had Helen with her. After Helen, nothing else in the world mattered.
